Subtopia

Subtopia is a Net entertainment slot that transports players from the safety of land, and catapults them into an exciting, daring, scary underwater experience. During your gaming session, you’ll explore a lost town, while meeting a variety of interesting people… and (hopefully) finding a lot of treasures along the true way.

As Subtopia takes place underwater, both the sounds and graphics are designed to accentuate this theme, and as always, Net Entertainment do a great job of creating a spectacular scene, that really does help you feel as though you’re immersed within the story line for yourself.

The background is incredibly well designed, and it looks to be a cross between the Lost City of Atlantis, and a Medieval Ruin – so we’re not entirely sure what angle Net Entertainment were going for here.

Nonetheless, the game looks great, and offers a playing experience that’s just as high-quality. Even though Subtopia does not boast a huge array of features, it’s important not to be put off right away; instead of a fast-paced, bonus-filled gaming experience, Net Entertainment opted to focus on the base-game, and in particular, base-game wins, rather than the “bells and whistles” associated with bonuses, and during the base-game you’ll see exiting multiplier action, allowing you to make very profitable pay lines, indeed.

Subtopia is a fairly typical Net Entertainment design, with 20-paylines, five-reels, and like most Net Entertainment games, the ability to easily adjust the bet level, and coin value is easy. Available to play from as little as £0.20, all the way up to £200, there’s a budget for all types of player, and this is just another reason why it’s well-worth checking out Subtopia right away.

The main objective of Subtopia is to – obviously – match 4-of-a-kind or 5-of-a-kind pay lines, of the same symbols, in order to win larger-than-normal prize amounts. This is tied in with the symbols Net Entertainment have decided to use, and while the low-paying symbols are represented by the traditional playing card symbols, including 10, J (Jack), Q (Queen), K (King), and A (Ace), the high-paying symbols offer higher-payouts than most other games, with windows of 10-20X being relatively common during the base-game.

Free Spins

OK, so there is a free-spins round – but it’s nothing to get too excited about. In order to land the free-spins, you’ll need to find three or more of the scatter symbols anywhere in sight on the reels, and when you do so, you’ll be awarded a number of spins (dependant on how many scatter symbols you land), and during the free-spins round, all wins are subject to a 2X multiplier; a big bonus, indeed.

Random Multiplier Bonus

This feature is triggered randomly on any winning spin, and when it’s awarded, you’ll notice the bottom-right-hand-side of the screen emits a little character, who then multiplies your win from between 2X, and 6X. It’s not great, but as they say… ‘every little helps’.

Subtopia isn‘t for everyone, and by all accounts it is a little boring – that said, if you can hit the free-spins round early on, you can still end up taking away a fairly decent profit, although we wouldn’t recommend long playing sessions on the game, due to the high chance of losing (short-term however, you stand a good chance of hitting some nice 4-of-a-kind and 5-of-a-kind wins, in both the base-game, and the free-spins round).
